Party of 7, down from 8 on 12 October. Hardest night of the week to seat, because it is a Saturday on a holiday weekend. The drop to 7 broke Pujol's minimum, which is covered below.
The balloon has a 4:30 AM pickup and gets back around 2 PM. A nine course tasting menu at 7:30 PM is roughly fifteen hours after the alarm. There are already two tasting menus in the itinerary counting whatever New Year's Eve becomes.
So the real question is not which restaurant is best. It is whether this night wants a tasting menu at all.
All prices are per person, food only, before drinks and tip.
| Venue | Where | Format | Each | Books via |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pujol private room | Polanco | Tasting | MX$3,795, $223 | Direct, window unknown |

| La Table Krug | St. Regis | One 8 PM seating | unpublished | Direct |
Quintonil caps at 6. Main dining room takes 2 to 6, the kitchen counter 1 to 3, and they explicitly ask guests not to book multiple reservations intending to be seated together. For reference their window is two months ahead on the 1st at midnight, so January 2027 would open 1 November. Contact: +52 55 5280 2680, reservaciones@quintonil.com.
Private dining room, capacity 8 to 14, minimum 8 tasting menus, and no room rental fee.
The group no longer meets the minimum. At 7 we either pay for an eighth cover nobody eats, roughly $223 wasted, or give up the private room and take a regular table if one exists. This is the single biggest consequence of dropping to 7, and it flips the recommendation toward Em, which takes parties of 3 to 8 and fits 7 with nothing to negotiate. MX$3,795 each, about $223 per person before drinks and tip. Seatings are 2:00 PM or 7:30 PM, and the 2:00 PM is unusable because the balloon returns at that hour.
Cancellation is MX$2,000 each (about $118) inside 48 hours. Pujol does not book through OpenTable and its booking window is unknown, which makes it the biggest blind spot on the whole trip.
One Michelin star 2024 through 2026, number 71 in Latin America's 50 Best. Main dining room takes parties of 3 to 8, so 7 fits with nothing to negotiate and no minimum to pad. MX$3,900 each, about $229 per person, with a MX$2,000 deposit per person (about $118 each) due at booking.
Two things no write-up mentions:
Em has moved. The old Tonala 133 address in Roma is dead. It reopens October 2026 at Av. Amsterdam 76, Condesa, which is a walk from the Oasis rather than a ride to Polanco. Phone +52 55 6450 1302.
2 January is not bookable yet, and not sold out either. Tock returns "Em has not opened reservations for 2 ene." Probing the horizon: 12 and 19 December are open, 31 December and 1 January are not. They are holding the holiday week back. Same situation as Pujol, but with a published phone number and a confirmed 8 top.
The honest pick is Maximo Bistrot or Rosetta. One Michelin star between them, both a la carte so people order to their appetite, both walkable from the house so there is no car at either end, and both roughly a quarter of Pujol's price per head.
Balcon del Zocalo, 6th floor of the Zocalo Central Hotel, 5 de Mayo 61, facing the Cathedral. Tasting menu MX$1,850, about $109 each, less than half Pujol, with the cathedral view that was on Krysta's own list. Seasonal pairing MX$1,650. +52 55 5130 5134.
Sud 777 is the same MX$1,850 each for twelve courses but sits in Jardines del Pedregal, 35 to 45 minutes south. That kills it for this night.
Every venue below is plotted on the map with its walk from the house.

Mexico City is UTC-6 year round and Detroit is still on EDT in early October, so the release-night conversion is ambiguous by an hour. Be online from 12:50 to 2:05 AM Detroit time rather than guessing.
